This prize was donated by the family of Gordon Crisell, a longstanding member of the group and secretary for 25 years. He died in 2015.

His family donated the shield in his memory in 2016 and it was decided to award it at the opening night of the annual SAG exhibition at Grantown Museum. Guests at the preview are asked to vote for their favourite piece of art.
