Showing off our brilliant work!

Back to normal next week with a new lesson from Angus. After the excitement of the photograph, everyone was asked to write down what they want to learn/improve this term. After wading through a pile of sticky notes, Angus has compiled a new schedule for the next few weeks leading up to April term. This can be found by clicking here.

Can you spot yours?

Lots of excitement on the first day of the new term. We got to see the new laser cutter, which was purchased by friends of the school at Revack Estate. This fantastic machine can cut and engrave wood and other material.DSC_3544

After a demonstration from Angus, he set us on making a simple black and white drawing that could be turned into coasters. Bugs and birds were the order of the day.

Angus has now printed everyone’s coasters and they can be picked up on Wednesday February 10. Remember that it’s the committee meeting (and another parents night at the school) so bring your own work along.

Feb 3 – Art group is back!

coaster, mothNow that we’re all rested after Christmas, it’s time to get our minds back into arty stuff.

Art group restarts on Wednesday February 3, when Angus will be telling us about the school’s new laser cutter. As a wee introductory exercise, he will be showing us how it can be used to make simple coasters for mugs etc.

Simple black and white line drawings with minimal shading work best, as you can see by Angus’s example.

On a different note, as you know, Gordon Crisell was a driving force in the Spey Art Group and was secretary for more than 25 years. He died last August, aged 89.

Gordon’s family has donated his art materials to the group and for some to be sold, with profits to go to club’s funds.

Liz Downie is custodian of the materials and will be bringing them to the first session on Wednesday.

Therefore, on Wednesday there will be a sale of the following items:
Acrylics – £1 a tube
Colored pencils – 50p per pencil
Pastel pencils – 50p per pencil
 See you all on Wednesday!
