About the group

Welcome to a friendly group, where everyone – from beginners to the experienced – is encouraged to enjoy their art.

The Spey Art Group originated in the 1980s, when the weekly classes were taught by Grantown Grammar School’s head of art, Rosie Fisher.

Members still meet in the school’s art room, on Wednesday nights from 7pm–9pm, during the school term (from August to the following June). Please see below for details of how you can join.

Angus Grant, one of the school’s art teachers, has been our tutor since 2013. As well as helping with our own projects, he gives lessons in different techniques and media – you can see the schedule for each term on our What’s On page.

We have a selection of art materials available so that you can try them out before you buy your own. We also run various different workshops in the school and Inverallan Church Hall.

We hold an annual exhibition in Grantown Museum, running for two weeks. Our work can also be viewed and bought in MacLean’s tearoom in the Square, Grantown.

The Spey Art Group is also a member of the Society of All Artists, which has lots of useful information and a number of regular competitions.

All of our news will appear on the website and you can also follow us on Twitter: @SpeyArtGroup
