We are continuing to look at a different visual element each term.

This time it’s “Pattern”. How you apply pattern and texture to your work can be the difference between a good and a great picture. We’ll look at different techniques across a range of media

January 8 -Tutoring – bring any projects that you’d like help with and Angus will do his best to help you. Induction for new members.

January 15 – Committee meeting.Fur, scales, feathers, claws spines and shells we’re looking at animal textures using pencils and paint.

January 22- Bring your favorite media! We will all work to the same theme “Animal print” to produce an artwork to share. You can bring your own source materials too if you’d like or Angus will provide a range of reference pictures to work from. There will be the chance to share the images produced and to learn from the different works produced by our diverse and talented group. Also printmaking techniques will be supported for those with less confidence drawing and painting. (drypoint etching using styrene sheet)

January 29 -Continuing from last week (giving folk the chance to sneakily work on their pictures at home) We will all work from the same source and share the results at the end of the lesson. No pressure! Sharing is optional.

February 5 – Visiting Artist! Kyle Noble, the other art teacher will share some of his work and will help you produce some lovely nature inspired pictures of your own.

February 19 – Tutoring – bring any projects that you’d like help with and Angus will do his best to help you. Coloured pencil on black paper introduced.

February 26 -Continuing the coloured pencil on black paper drawings, and introducing collograph. A lovely printmaking technique, (half way between etching and relief printing.)

March 4 -Collograph -finishing plates and getting a few prints through the press.

March 11 -Tutor Swap. Katie will be joining us from Kingussie, bringing her enthusiasm and expertise to the group.This time she’ll be teaching you about Zentangle animals and insects, using inks and stippled patterns.

March 18 – Tutor Swap

March 25 – Tutoring, support will be given for people to finish off or develop work from previous weeks.
